Dear Charlotte

I will write a fiew lines to you to let you know that I am well. I wrote a fiew lines the 6th. We have ben marching every day. Our brigade went on a reconnoisance yesterday. We went 16 miles south west of Dalton. We are now 6 miles from Dalton. The first and second brigades had a fight yesterday. It was luckey for us that we was on the reconnoisance. If we had ben here we would had to done the fighting. We are about one mile from the rebs. They are on a big hill. We will have a hard time to get them off unless we can flank them which I think we can. Our divition is here alone in this gap. The 15 and 16 corps are going to the right to come in the rear. The rest of our forces are on our left. The weather is warm and verry dusty. There was about 180 killed and wounded out of our divition yesterday. I cant write eney more this time. We got a mail to day but no letter for me. Good buy.
