Dear Charlotte

It has ben a long time since I wrote you last. It was near Raleigh. You will learn by this that I am three or four hundred miles farther north now than I was then. We arived here the 19th. It was a long march. We left Richmond Va the 11th. We rested there two days. I wont stop to write everything about the march as I will soone be home and then I will tell you all about it. The Grand Review goes off to day and tomorrow. You will learn all about it in the papers. I received four of your letters to day. The latest date was May 12th. I was verry glad to hear that you were all well. It has ben three weaks since I heard from you. The envelops have not come and the 18 dollars I sent from Raleigh. I guess it is lost. You dident state eneything about it in eney of your letters. I am sorry. I hope you will get it yet. I am verry anxious to get home. I haint half as contented as I was when we had to march and fight. Days seam long as weaks did then and I guess you feele about as I do about it. I dont know but they will send us to our state to make out the papers. If they do I will come on furlough but I think we will be musterd out the last of next month. I want to go south to live. I have got a farm picked out on a large plantation rich as a garden and level as a floor. This land will be sold cheap but a man from the north will have to go well armed for a while or he will loose his head but I fear them not. All I want is your consent to go. I may change my mind but I think not. If I have good luck it will be a year or two before it will be sold. I think you stated that Jim Landon was dead. I heard to day that he was in hospital at Alexzandra and likely to get well. Some of the 109th boys have ben here. Rast is somewhere about here. I think I will see him tomorrow. Them oil wells are a big thing. Oil will be cheap in Vestal. Some of them must cept well greased to sliped out of the service so easy. Tell your ma I haint verry crazey yet but awfull homesick. I want to see you all so bad I can hardly stand it. I will close for this time. Write often. I dont think you get all my letters. No more. Good buy dear Charlotte.
