Dear Charlotte

I will try and write a fiew lines to you to let you know that I am well and where I am. We left Stevenson last Monday. Marched to Brigport. Tuesday to Shelmount. Wensday to Chattanooga past over the Wauhatchie battle field. Thursday we marched three miles south of Ringold and this forenoone we marched six or eight miles and halted. We are 18 miles from Dalton 9 miles from Lafeyette. We cant go but little farther without fighting if the rebs will fight but I dont think they will make a stand untill they get to Dalton. We have marched 70 or 80 miles. My feet are sore but not near as bad as some of the boys. The weather is warm and dry. We are on the rebs right flank. There is betweene 30 or 40 thousent in our corps. There will be some hard fighting done and soone to. I am sorry we dident get pay before we marched. I dont know when we will get it now and I know you nead some money. I have got two dollars that I dont nead. I will send it to you. I have no use for money here. You must ceep up good courage and not wory about me. I received your letter of April 27th last Tuesday. I never got a letter that done me more good than that one did. Rite as often as you can. We dont get eney mail now but I will get them some time. I dont know when I can right again. Perhaps not untill after the battle. I havent time to rite eney more. I have riten this in a great hurey. Good buy dear Charlotte.
