Stevenson Ala
Feb the 3 /64

Dear Wife

I received yours of the 24th this morning. I was glad to hear you were all well. You think it takes letters longer to go then it did when we was in Tenn but it dont take as long. We was then in east Tenn. We had to go through Alabama and Georgia to get there but now we are in Ala and nearer midel Tenn. You are determined to send me a box. If you do be shure and direct it to Stevenson Ala. I would much reather you would ceep the money for I know we will see the time that it will do us a great deal more good than it will to pay it out for a box. If it dont me it will come good for you and the children. I have plenty to eat and that is all I want here. I would reather wait untill I come home and then we will have a feast but I presume you will send it before you get this. If you do I hope you will direct it to Stevenson. You dont know what is best to do about Bloomers place. If you can get a house somewhere that you like better you had better let it go. You must do as you think best. Suit yourself and I will be suited. Make Labe Brown pay the rent next spring. Dont throw off eney. Every thing is so high you will nead all the money you can get to get along. I wish you would send me some more stamps. I have writen so often lately I am out of stamps. I guess you will get two letters a weak. Direct your letters as before. The weather is a little colder than it has ben. It froze some last knight. The mail goes out in a little while and I want to send this to day so I will close for this time. Write as often as you can. My love to you. Good buy.
