Dear Charlotte

I thought I would write a few lines to you to let you know where I am. We left Bealeton Station Monday. We stoped in Washing about three hours and went on. We past by where Jacob is but the train dident stop so I dident see him. It was in the knight. The cars run slow. I halerd 137th and there was some of the boys came running down towards us but I couldent talk with them. We went through Harpers Ferry. That made three times we have been there. We came through Cumberland Citty and so through here. We haint but little wais from Wheeling. You can see it on the map in western Virginia. We are waiting for cars now. This is the first time we have had to change cars. We got here at day brake this morning. We croosed the river on pontoones. We came over a rough road yesterday through the mountains. We past through a number of tunels. Two of them are a mild and a half long. I suppose the land is nice through Ohio. We are going to Chatanooga. I wish we was there. I have got tierd riding. We are so crowded in the cars we cant lay down. I feele about sick. I have took a bad cold and my head aches. It is hard work to ride so far in the way we have got to go. We dident get a mail in Washington. I want to get a letter verry bad. I cant tell when we will get a mail. I hope you are all well. You musent wory about me. I haint got time to write much this time. I will write again the next chance I have. I send my love to you. So good buy.
