Dear Charlotte

You sead you had forgoten how I looked so I thought I would have my likeness taken and send to you. It looks some as I do. They cant take verry good pictures here. It cost me a dollar. You dident tell me what you paied for yours. The weather is cold here now. This is the worst place place we have ever ben for picket. The most dangerous. The rebs fire at us every chance they have. We darent fire at them. It is against orders. One of our boys had his gun shot to peices yesterday. They have got a bold front and our pickets line lookes more like a line of battle than it does like a picket line. Our men are getting some heavey guns. I guess they will shell them out of there before long. I will put two dollars in this letter. It will help buy the babies clothes to go east with. I earned 65 cents to day washing shirts. I wash for 5 cents apiece. Write often as you can. I must close this. The mail will soone go out. So good buy. My love to you.
